Caldina is a estate car launched first in 1992 as a successor to the Carina Surf. The car was modified in 1997 and then again in 2002. It is a 5 door estate car pitched as a practical family vehicle but the new 2002 version is projected as a sports vehicle with an entirely different design from that of the previous versions. The car came 1997 model of Caldina was a slightly revamped version of the 1992 model based on the Toyota Avansis, another estate version of Toyota. It came with both 2WD and 4WD versions. THe car came with a number of varieties. The 1800cc version with a 7A-FE petrol engine, 2000cc 3S-FE petrol, 2000cc 3C-TE diesel. The 4WD was called the Active Sports GT fitted with a 3S-GE engine. The most expensive model was the GT-T which came with a 260PS 3S-GTE, turbocharged engine and 4WD. The 2002 Caldina is a high performer. The 2000cc twin cam turbo engine comes with the Sports Sequential Automatic Shift transmission. The car has excellent handling and stability. The design is sporty and sleek. Caldina comes with ABS, EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), VSC (Vertical Stability Control), the GOA collision-safety features, etc as well as the usual features. |
