Corolla is one of the famous and largest selling models from Toyota. The Corolla is a compact sedan which debuted in 1966. The car has has sold 30 million units till date. It was deemed as the largest selling car in 1997 and continues to be one of the largest selling cars in the world. The second gen was called the E20 series and was launched in 1970. It became the second largest selling car in the world. The car came as a 2 door and 4 door sedan, a coupe as well as 3 and 5 door estate version. The cars came equipped with 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 liter engines. The 3rd generation were the E30, E40 and E50 series launched in 1974. They also came with the similar body types and engine capacities as the previous series. The E70 was the 4th generation of the Corolla. It was launched with a variety of body styles namely 2 and 4-door sedan, hardtop coupé, liftback coupé, 3 and 5 door station wagon as well as van. Over the years, the E80, E90, E100, E110 series were introduced. The ninth generation E120 was introduced in 2000. It comes as a 4 door sedan, 3 and 5 door hatch, estate as well as van versions. Although specifications differ from region to region, the cars come with engines options of 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8 liter petrol/gasoline and a 2.2 lire diesel engine. The transmission types are 4-Speed automatic overdrive, 5-Speed manual overdrive and 6-speed manual overdrive. In October 10, 2006 tenth generation Corolla E140 series was released in Japan. |
