Toyota Passo Malaysia
Toyota Passo Malayisa also known as Daihatsu Sirion, is a subcompact 5 door hatchback. The car went into production in 1998 and is still in the market. The car is sold under Daihatsu as well as Toyota banners. Of the four models of the car, two are sold under Daihatsu brand and two under Toyota. These are the Daihatsu Boon and Daihatsu Storia and the Toyota Passo and Duet.
The first generation of the car was introduced in 1998 and continued till 2001. The two models introduced were the Daihatsu Storia and the Toyota Duet. The powerplant was a choice of 1.0 L EJ-VE MPFi gasoline engine and the 1.3 L K3-VE MPFi gasoline engine taken from the Yaris. The 1.3L version was known as the Duet and GTVi in some of the markets.
Apart from the two models, a 4x4 version called the 4Track was also launched in the market.
The second generation of the car was introduced in 2005. The car was much more sportier although it retained the original 5 door hatch design. The car had much more rounded edges and smooth sloping contours, keeping with the latest trend. The new car is sold by the names Toyota Passo, Daihatsu Boon and the Perodua MyVi sold in Malaysia. The engines capacity of the new car remained the same 1.0L and 1.3L.
