Toyota Porte is a small sized van from the Toyota lineup similar to the Peugeot 1007. The Porte, is a car with very unique styling. The car was was launched in 2004 and meant to be sold only in the japanese market.
The unique design features of the car include driver's side normal door and sliding door on the other side, asymmetrical seats, and a boxy shape which is in tandem with the Japanese car styling. The large passenger side sliding door is the main feature of the car. In fact the name of the car is given keeping in mind the door, the name 'Porte' is derived from the french word for door.
The Porte is a 2wd with automatic transmission. The engine fitted to the car is either a 1.3L VVti gasoline or 1.5L VTTi gasoline engine. The is prized at around US$ 17000 for the 1.3L version and US$19000 for the 1.5L version. The car has a capacity of 5 people. The interiors of the car is spacious and comfortable. The ride quality, although not very remarkable, is pretty good. The Porte is a great family car, specially for the urban areas.
