The Sienna is another minivan offering from Toyota Motor Corporation. The car is manufactured and sold only in North America. The Sienna is also based on the Camry platform, much like the Previa, which it replaced in the American market. The car debuted in 1998. There have been two generations of the Sienna, the present one being the second which was launched in 2003. The Sienna shares its platform with the the Previa, Camry Solara and the Avalon. The main competitors of the Sienna in its segment are the Honda Odessey, Chevrolet Uplander, Nissan Quest and the likes. The first generation Sienna was launched in 1997, replacing the older Previa. The new car was also based on the Camry platform like its predecessor. The powerplant was a 3.0L V6 engine giving a max power of 210 horses and a max torque of 284Nm. Transmission was four speed automatic. The Sienna was offered with a choice of 3-door or 4-door minivan body style. Later upgrades in the model saw an upgraded and more powerful VVT-i engine. The second generation Sienna was introduced in 2004, being built in Princeton, Indiana rather than Georgetown, Kentucky. The 3 door variant was dropped restricting the body style to 4 door minivan. The main difference was the introduction of the powerful 3.3L DOHC 24-valve VVT-i V6 gasoline engine and even more powerful 3.5 liter DOHC 24-valve Dual VVT-i V6 gasoline engine. The transmission was 5 speed automatic. Among other features, the new Sienna was also available in all wheel drive.
