The Vios is a 4 door subcompact sedan produced specifically for asian markets such as China, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and other south asian countries. The Vios is the successor of the Toyota Soluna. In fact it is still sold as Toyota Soluna Vios in Singapore. The sedan was launched in 2003 and till now has undergone two generations. The car lies in the subcompact car segment along with the likes of Honda City, Ford Fiesta, Chevrolet Aveo etc. The first generation Vios was unveiled in 2003 and lasted till 2007. In most of the south east asian markets, the car was powered by 1.5 L VVT-i. or 1.3 L engines. The trim levels are J, E, S, and G in south east asia and DLX, GL, GLX, and GLXi in China. A turbo charged version of the car, the Vios Turbo is available in Thailand and comes with a 1.5L turbo charged engine. Second generation Vios, introduced in 2007, is renamed Toyota Belta with subtle modifications. The car is comes with the successful 1NZ-FE engines with 1.5L capacity. The engine is proved to be a very efficient one, a very marketable quality, especially in asia. |
